On the drumKat this takes place within the Kit Edit screen - selected by hitting Pad 2 in Pre-Edit mode. Here you can name the current kit you are working on, view the overall pad assignments and edit individual parameters including MIDI channel and note settings, velocity levels (minimum and maximum) and velocity curve. The drumKAT is our classic controller. The trapKAT, our most drum like, offers 24 pads plus bass drum and hihat to give you a gigantic drum kit in a small compact footprint. Our drum controllers are incredibly dynamic and responsive to your playing style. · DrumKAT EZ - MIDI Controller. Post by paugui» Thu pm Hi I just bought today a KAT DrumKAT EZ, a percussion controller with MIDI, with the aim to control my Cheetah MD16R drum machine. I also got some pedals and extra pads and a .
My opinion is that the handsonic is as or more expressive then the others, supports after touch, is much lighter than the drumkat, is much easier to program than the drumkat, has sounds, 3 unusual expression controllers (the infra red beam and the two pressure slider strips) and doesn't require FSR replacement every few years. 1. Set each pad to a different note value, dial up a preset and go for it. Using the DrumKat as opposed to a keyboard gives you a different feel whether its drum sounds, percussive keys sounds, ethereal floaty stuff. 2. Each pad can be programmed to send a short MIDI phrase, like a drum roll or brief drum pattern. I have a drumKAT that's been sitting in the garage for a few months now. Its BD and HH pedals are great (kickKAT and hatKAT), but its pads aren't sensitive to low velocities. It's precisely the low velocity sensitivity I want to use pads for; I was a mediocre drummer (better at jazz than rock) but a good orchestral percussionist when I played.
It's also, perhaps, why the drumKat arrives with its own video tutorial, which is in all ways superior to the manual, though not actually a replacement for it. Of far greater concern, of course, is the question of how playable the drumKat is. Drumkat Midi Controller software version - 2 MIDI in's Two MIDI outs 10 surfaces, 9 external trigger inputs New FSR and custom rubber recently replaced by Alternate Mode. 4 Daz pads, 2 - 6 inch pads black plastic back, two 8 inch pads - mirror finish back, second 8 inch not shown. hatKAT hi hat continuous controller. Drumkat hihat help. I just bought a Drumkat to replace my DK10 and I am having a fit trying to get the hihat working. I am using it with a TD8 and TD 20 but mostly the TD8 as a practice kit. The kat was upgraded from to a by the previous owner and is in mint condition with the manual and the upgrade insert.
